38 Arcade Archives Games Have Now Been Released For Xbox Series X|S In 2026 So Far
Sun Aug 30 11:00 am

A bumper month for the retro archives series.

Back in May, we mentioned how 17 Arcade Archives games had already been released for Xbox throughout 2026, and that pattern has continued over the past few months, to the point where we're now at 38 games in total!

There are some pretty huge ones in the mix here as well, including the surprise arrival of Tekken back in July. The problem with Arcade Archives is that the new releases aren't announced way ahead of time, so they end up shadow dropping on the Xbox Store and get easily missed. We've had six new releases in August alone!

The closures we know about so far.

A new month is once again upon us, so it's time to look at the upcoming server shutdowns on Xbox in September 2026, and fortunately there aren't too many to discuss this time around.

The most notable one here is probably GRID Legends, which is turning off its online features on September 11th. Another sports title is also shutting down its online servers in the form of Sociable Soccer 25 on September 28th. The offline portions for both of these titles will still continue to work after those shutdown dates.

Fable Director Reveals Original October 2026 Release Plans, But They're 'Glad' For The Delay
Fri Aug 28 1:00 pm

"I feel great about that.".

When Fable was delayed to February 2027 in May, we pretty much all knew exactly why Xbox had made that decision - they wanted to release nowhere near Grand Theft Auto 6, and allow Fable to have the spotlight at another time.

A date had never been penned in for Fable prior to that point, but a new Gamescom interview with IGN reveals that October 2026 was the release target for Playground Games, so that's what they were aiming for before the delay.
