Sun Mar 01 11:00 am

It has a soundtrack disc and a bonus disc.

As we celebrate Xbox's 25th anniversary this year, we've been looking into the archives and reminded ourselves of Soundtrack 1: The Definitive Xbox Compilation - a CD that featured the likes of The Crystal Method and Fatboy Slim.

The CD actually goes for a decent amount of money these days, and it's got a pretty cool cover too!

Feature: SSX 3 Is Incredible On Xbox, Here Are Five Reasons You Should Try It In 2026
Sun Mar 01 9:00 am

The best snowboarding game ever made?

When we published our feature on Fable: Anniversary Edition a few weeks ago, I was personally so pleased to hear from Pure Xbox readers who had been inspired to play the game for themselves. Thank you to everyone who reached out — it's been amazing to hear that you've been enjoying it recently as well!

With that in mind, I thought I'd try it again this weekend, but with something that possibly won't have as much mass appeal. The Winter Olympics dominated much of my time during February, and therefore I've been feeling inspired to play a bit of NHL, maybe an old Olympic game or two... but mainly to check out the utterly superb SSX 3.

Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions Of Resident Evil Requiem On Xbox Series X|S?
Sat Feb 28 11:00 am

Enjoying it so far?

By far the biggest release of last week was Resident Evil Requiem, with Capcom delivering the latest mainline instalment to Xbox players on Friday, February 27th. With that in mind, we're going to guess that a good chunk of you have spent some end-of-month pennies on this one already, and we want to know how you're getting on with the game so far.

Across the board, Resident Evil Requiem seems to be landing pretty well with fans and critics alike. Our own 9/10 review lined up almost exactly with the roughly-90 aggregate scores the game has gotten so far - with the title delivering on what a lot of players want from Capcom's premiere horror franchise.

Two Massive Xbox Franchises Are Getting The Evercade Treatment Very Soon
Sat Feb 28 5:30 am

Including a pocket console dedicated to Banjo and Rare!

We mentioned back at the start of the year about how Xbox had begun licensing games for physical cartridges in 2025, and that more were planned in 2026 - and it turns out that two massive Xbox franchises are getting the treatment.

As you may have seen over at Time Extension yesterday, it's been announced that Banjo-Kazooie is taking the spotlight as part of a new Super Pocket handheld console developed by Evercade and Blaze Entertainment. The Super Pocket range is designed to provide an ultra-portable experience at a bargain price (£49.99 / $69.99), with the Rare Super Pocket featuring 14 games in all, including the aforementioned first Banjo game.

Roundup: Here's What The First Reviews / Impressions Say About The Marathon Server Slam
Fri Feb 27 2:30 pm

What do you think of it?

Last night marked the start of the Marathon Server Slam beta ahead of the game's full release next week, and it's certainly been popular so far — it's reached a peak of 143,621 concurrent players on Steam alone!

But what about the impressions? Well, the Xbox Store is notoriously difficult to judge because of how people tend to leave unconstructive reviews on there, but for what it's worth, the rating is 2.7/5 on the US version of the Xbox Store based on almost 400 reviews so far.

Fri Feb 27 1:00 pm

The old PC versions are getting delisted too.

Xbox is continuing to push the Xbox Play Anywhere program in a massive way right now, and it's just been discovered that over 60 ACA NEOGEO games have received the "Xbox Play Anywhere" tag on their Microsoft Store pages.

This also means that a handful of these games have been delisted for PC on the Microsoft Store, as they don't need to have separate versions anymore — one Xbox Play Anywhere game accounts for Xbox consoles and PC in one listing.

GoldenEye & TimeSplitters Creators Return To Xbox With The Most Unlikely Of New Games
Fri Feb 27 12:00 pm

It's called Beyond Words, and it's nothing like those two titles!

You'll find over 30 new releases coming to Xbox next week (we'll have the full roundup for you this Saturday), and one of them is bound to go under the radar — but it's from the creators of the GoldenEye 007 and TimeSplitters games!

The reason it might not get attention is because it's nothing like either of those two titles, taking the form of a roguelike strategy and word-crafting game called Beyond Words. The idea is to "journey through a living puzzle shaped by your decisions" where you'll "build powerful combos, unlock upgrades, and master a challenge where victory is spelled one letter at a time".
